Kintyre is on the extreme west coast of Scotland. It’s an awkward place to travel to and from. May and I went there to have a look at a shed in Carradale that was for sale at offers over £40 000. When we got there the owner told us that if somebody offered him there and then £80 000 cash in hand . . he would refuse the offer. We moved on.
Campbeltown was disappointing but the Mull of Paul McCartney fame is very attractive. We also visited his property which I think is not actually on the Mull itself.
I also stood on the first tee at Macrihanish and doubt very much whether I would ever be able to drive the ball across the beach.
The visit was well worth the trouble just to have a look at the medieval grave stone carvings of Saddell Abbey. They are stunning.
